In this poetry workshop, we will look at the various ways in which poets have written directly and/or imaginatively about trauma and its aftermath. Through various exercises, and in a small intimate setting, participants will learn and practice various techniques for expression and reclamation of the unspeakable through poetry. *phrase borrowed from title of Audre Lorde essay “The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action”

The workshop will be held at Center for Social Change on Sunday, April 29 at 10:00 AM, lead by poet Yaddyra Peralta. This workshop is designed to be an inclusive and safe space, and we ask that participants remain mindful and respectful of the sensitive nature of this event.

Yaddyra Peralta is a poet whose work is forthcoming or has appeared in Miami Rail, Ploughshares, Tigertail, Abe's Penny, Hinchas de Poesia and Eight Miami Poets (Jai Alai Books).
